CHATROOM
SIGN UP INSTRUCTIONS
This CHATROOM works on a notification basis and emails you as soon as a message has been posted rather than emailing with the full post. The advantages of this are that you will visit the Chatroom/Blog more often and will be aware of what other things (pictures etc.) members have placed on the board. Compared with Yahoo this is really easy - some members never ever made it onto the Yahoo site so this is for them. |

Visit this link (if you have not already) for the Chatroom page CHATROOM
then leave it open while you follow these instructions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 2 Look for the link 'CREATE AN ACCOUNT' near the red spot on the adjacent picture. | ![]() |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
3 Fill in the short form in the white area. Pay special attention to the timezone (Europe/London) and language preferences
as this effects the order of your messages. |

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4 Next you will receive an e-mail to the address you specified in the form at 3. This confirms that your account has been set up - this happens within minutes normally. Once you receive this you can then log in (the email refers to friends and family being able to join - this is a system generated message which is out of my control, generally this Chatroom is for members and direct families to use only). |
An E-mail is on it's way!! |

5 Visit the Chatroom again and 'Log In'. Tick the remember me box! It helps with security later on. Next, to finish your form filling click the link 'My Preferences' near to the red spot marked 5 in the adjacent picture.. |

Basically here you can fill in or change as
much as you like but take a close look at the areas where the three green
spots are located on the adjacent picture. These surround the e-mail notifications
when members post to the board. |

*Once your application has been approved you are ready to 'Post' See 8 below. Login and you will see the folders as 9 below to work with.
7 That's basically it! To 'POST' a message look for the 'Post New Entry' link in the black strip indicated here with the orange spot (not on the real page). Just post to the folder options available to you i.e 'FOA Members Only' +/or the 'Sail and Sea' which is public. As we want to keep the 'FOA Members Only' special you probably would not want to publish everything to do with the Fisher to the 'Sea and Sail' folder. |

*8 THERE IS ONE MORE STEP WHICH I HAVE TO DO AND THAT IS I HAVE TO APPROVE YOUR APPLICATION TO ALLOW YOUR POSTS TO BE DISPLAYED so if you alert me to the fact you have joined by emailing me on this link I will finalise your application and you can then post messages. |

This is what you see
and work with once you are approved and logged
back in: This is the file structure you will see in the left column once you have registered and the committee have approved your application which is subject to membership being up to date, just double click the folders as usual to open the contents and display the relevent files in the centre white panel. |

| NOTE:
There are a lot of links that you might think you can
click away at, but when you have tried something you should not have clicked,
the following sign pops up about 30% of the way down on the left column. Known Issues: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> There is a lot of other things you can do but are not essential to know at this early stage. You can of course put pictures on as you did on the Yahoo version. Visit this link to get started on the Chatroom page CHATROOM Good luck!! |
1. You may be asked to login again to post - this seems to happen once or twice at first and appears to be a browser issue not carrying the information forward to the 'Post Page'. So it depends on your browser version as to whether you experience this. It helps if you check the 'Remember me' box. 2. ERROR: You do not have permission to view photo # 2699547 this happens if you click the link in the email notification and you are not already logged in, just log in to resolve this problem. |
